Cosmetic dentistry consists of multiple dental services that are designed to transform smiles to appear radiant, flawless, and one of a kind. While each office provides different treatment options, most consist of veneers, teeth whitening, metal-free restorations, and cosmetic dental bonding. Although they’re capable of hiding all types of imperfections and making dream smiles come to life, how long does it take to see results? The only way to find out is to keep reading.

Dental Veneers

The average timeframe to see beautiful results with dental veneers is about 2-3 weeks. The reason is that at least two appointments are required to receive these customized restorations.

Crafted in an off-site laboratory, veneers are fabricated using digital impressions of your teeth. Based on what your cosmetic dentist specifies, they will be created to match the color, shape, and size of your desired smile.

While the first appointment is dedicated to removing a small bit of tooth enamel, taking impressions, and placing temporary veneers, the second visit involves removing the temporaries and positioning each new veneer in place.

Metal-Free Dental Restorations

Metal-free restorations will take 2-3 appointments before you see a new smile. This is if you require a dental crown, bridge, or another similar tooth covering.

These are crafted by lab technicians who need time to ensure the final version aligns with your smile and fits correctly. In between appointments, you’ll wear a temporary restoration so that your tooth remains protected while waiting for the permanent one to be created.

Cosmetic Dental Bonding

Faster results are achievable with cosmetic dental bonding. This requires only one appointment with your dentist’s office. Your dental team can use composite resin to conceal the minor flaw (i.e., chip, gap, crack, etc.). All that is required is for the resin to be color-matched to your natural enamel and applied to the surface of your tooth.

Once it is sculpted in place, a curing light will harden the resin so that it appears natural-looking and provides great stability over time.

Teeth Whitening

Depending on how quickly you want results, you have the option to choose between in-office or take-home teeth whitening. When performed by a dentist, the in-house process only requires about one hour to see dramatic results. However, the take-home approach allows for greater convenience and comfort but can take about two weeks before you see a noticeable change.

No matter which method you choose, the results you achieve with cosmetic dentistry are worth the wait.
